Rotund Rebound's Bouncy Development

Posted by Paul on July 18, 2018

There are many game marketing articles that say you should get the word out about your project as soon as you have something worth sharing. It made sense to us, particularly as we expected Rotund Rebound to have a relatively rapid development. So we did put the word out, starting with a blog announcement and some animated gifs on Twitter. To those of you who have been patiently watching and waiting since then, we thank you, and we're sorry for the long silence.

We are admittedly way behind schedule, but this is our return to game dev and we don't intend to cut any corners.

Rotund Rebound

We've been working hard and we've been working consistently, but despite carefully planning out Rotund Rebound in detail before ever starting work on it, game creation is a very organic process for us and things have naturally grown beyond our original vision. Combine that with our commitment to give every aspect of the game as much time and care as necessary, and development hasn't been so rapid. But that's only part of it.

Making a great game takes lots of development effort, but making a successful game takes marketing effort. Because we want Rotund Rebound to be both, we've had to open our eyes to a whole different side of the game dev biz. Examining our work from a promotional perspective, figuring out how, when, and where to put our marketing efforts, putting together tools and materials--its been a huge and time-consuming thing for us, but highly essential. Things might have been very different with our earlier titles if we'd known then what we know now.

So apologies again for the chirping crickets around here. If you've been watching, keep watching, and if you haven't, then start, because there's cool stuff on the horizon!
